THURSDAY

Went to class and we had to take this test - the incentive was to score big and you would get a "prize" open book and it was ungraded. That's fucking college for you. So of course I bought the wrong book and accordingly, brought the wrong one for this pointless test to what - win a prize? What is this shit? 1st grade?

But of course with out the book I got the highest score and got that 5 dolla Starbuck gift card. I'm gonna wine and dine my man this week yo

So later as I was walking on a cloud and sort of depressed my parents are working/paying money for this stupid education I met up with my boyfriend and we watched YouTube videos to learn how to cut my hair.

We got the wrong scissors though. Scratch that.

So it was off to E Room.

Hadn't been there for a minute. I noticed they put up a black gate in front of the alley way because Lindsay Lohan is a fucking idiot and/or genius who staged a "hit and run" - I bet that bitch got paid 5 K to do that 1) for publicity 2) cuz that bitch is nuts yo!

Anyways. Walked in music was way to loud. Wait first I had to wait 2 minutes which in club time is a fucking life time. But my boy Katz walked out and said "She is good"

And we are in.

So as I said, music was loud and little off but they cleaned shop and it got pretty fucking good. They were playing new tracks I haven't heard and the energy was really good. I missed that place.

I haven't been out much but its always the go to for nostalgic esque Kenmare days with a dash of Nur Kahn.

Can't go wrong with that.

We left around 3:45 and went back and kept listening to music.

You know the drill

Weekend Update

FRIDAY

Went to my Urban Planning class which I love. It makes you look at the city completely differently and really appreciate your surroundings. After I met up at my friend's place and my boyfriend and I went to Cielo..it was whatever. Then we went off to the Black Market party which SUCKED. I should have known better! I'm never going to another one again. Friday was sort of a fail.

no pictures please

SATURDAY

Went and finally saw Batman. HOLY SHIT. Best one yet I think!! After we headed to Brooklyn. I really wasn't looking forward to it but I was in for one hell of surprise. We went to this BEAUTIFUL townhouse, this kid owned the entire building and it was 4 floors. The guy had a bartender there and even a security guard. The place was so sick. One of my good friend's brought all their DJ equipment over to spin. There was a bunch of frenchies there so the room was a little stuffy but once we started playing dope beats and people got a little drunk it turned into a SICK party. Every one cleared out around 4 or 5 but of course my circle of friends stayed longer and kept it going.  I met a lot of cool people who are going be dope contacts in the future when shit starts to pick up. Network network network! It definitely was the best house party I have ever been to. Blank doesn't count because that's not really house..that's a club in a house because we are crazy but whatever

Picture quality sucks. I can't wait to get my Iphone 5!

Mondaze

I forgot to talk about last Monday!

I didn't have class because of the Jewish holiday..I love my school! So my boyfriend and I walked around Soho for a little bit just wandering around then went to this espresso cafe and took a couple shots - by then we were running around the neighborhood. For some reason we decided to drive downtown and weren't paying attention and ended up crossing the Brooklyn Bridge. I lived in BK Heights for a year so we walked around my old hood and got lunch at this bar/restaurant and the food was killer. After we headed back to the city and went  to Ludlow Manor with our other friend. We were the only people there. Literally. So we ordered a bunch of drinks and at just talked for a couple hours, at one point the bartender joined in. After we headed to Lil Charlies which I already discussed in a previous post.

Lee Burridge

Some one kill me. Sunday I was going to the Lee Burridge rooftop party in BK but felt like I wanted to die. But nothing a little coffee and mac n cheese can't fix right? Right.

I have been on a mac n cheese kick lately so I checked out S'mac in the LES - place is dope!!! Oh my god i went to mac n cheese heaven. It was so good we ordered another plate and ate it on the way to the Lee Burridge. We got there and locked the keys in the car so we had to wait around for the guy, who charged 165!! I thought it was going to be like 10 bucks AND he couldn't even do it. We ended up opening the door so we paid him for nothing. I  changed and once all was resolved we could finally enjoy the party.

pinkers

LEE BURRIDGE IS GENIUS!!!!!!!!!!!!

He was so good! I ran into a ton of people I saw at Pink and a couple kids from the city. The set up was great too...the party started at 3 and went till 11.

DJ Endo was there too but I was too scared to say hi.

You can tell Lee Burridge knows his shit, he dropped a ton of his own tracks - he doesn't even put them out to the public just plays them for parties - thats a true DJ - not most of the sell outs we know.

It was a great way to end the week.

Nadaving

Ya know - just Nadaving around

Underground Nation

Went to Underground Nation in the LES - I guess this place has been around for awhile?????? They played some deep house but it was whatever.

FRIDAY

Went to dinner at Diva - my old digs!!! - was supposed to go to Wolfgang but getting there was a bitch and we were too hungry so we just said fuck it. The Red Snapper at Diva is soooo good!!! After we headed to the Guy Gerber boat party. I was looking forward to this all week. I actually have never been to a boat party surprisingly so I was a little nervous because my stomach is weak as fuck so I WOULD be that chick who got sick. And we  got Artichoke before. WORST IDEA EVER. I was already feeling queasy on the boat and we were swaying back and forth I was like GREAAAT. But once we started moving I felt better. OK I need to address something.

GUY GERBER FUCKING SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We actually didn't even listen to him really at all and listened to the other dj downstairs who was actually pretty good. He had a shirt on that said "Prosciutto" Nobody got his name so now we just call him DJ Prosciutto. It was actually a really cool party - but crowd was sort of off - and my friend told me it looked like I was having the most fun out of everyone. I have been getting that comment quite often lately. But i guess its true - I do usually have a lot of fun every where I go.

After the boat party we went back and chilled for a little bit then headed to Srb in Brooklyn because my favorite dj - DJ ENDO - was spinning and there was no way in hell I was going to miss it. We got there pretty late but I was under the impression he was going to be spinning all night. I was dying of thirst and had to pee, by the time I took care of all this, fucking Guy Gerber shows up and kicks him off. So i only heard 3 tracks and he was done. I wanted to cry.

GUY GERBER FUCKING SUCKED!! HE WAS THE WORST DJ I HAVE EVER HEARD. EVER. THE NEXT TIME I SEE HIM I AM PUNCHING HIM IN THE BALLS.

How is this guy famous? He played this one beat that sounded terrible for an hour. Ugh, I became sober that's how bad it was. And the crowd was terrible. A bunch of guidos and fat ugly chicks and freaky guys dancing weird. I was so miserable we ended up leaving after an hour. It was just terrible.

I will never see Guy Gerber again, you would literally have to pay me a million dollars.

Pink In Vermont

I have had the past weekend lingering on my mind and have wanted to post about it but I was overwhelmed. In shock almost. I didn't have the mental capacity to process the events that took place to write about it in a fashionable manner that got the exact message across. I needed a period to metabolize, analyze, dissect, and conclude. I almost implied the "scientific method" we learned in 5th grade it was that serious. Which then made me realize this was not just an ordinary "I went to 1OAK and it was dope and i had so much fun" sort of entries because those are littered throughout this blog like garbage along an interstate highway.  Instead I sifted through everything and tried to compose myself in hopes to articulate my misadventure the best way possible.

Oh another thing. I had a friend - not anymore - read an entry of my blog out loud to a couple friends in a mocking tone and  pointing out all my grammatical errors and what not. She said it needs to be like thisssss because the structure of my syntax is awkward and off (obviously she put it more simpler terms but i augmented her vocabulary for my own sake)  - so people understand. I shook my head. And was annoyed, just because your 8th grade English teacher told you this is how to write doesn't mean anything. Construct your own language and rhythm. Because language is very flexible and there is no one right way to use it. I don't write like its an essay I'm submitting to professor (I mean I do when I have to and boy what a drone that is) - but my style is more of a stream of conscious and as i type now you are getting a direct entry into my thought process. And the brain makes errors and i like it. Its raw. I'm not trying to sound "right" and I'm not even trying to sound "Real" because if i did that then I am too attached to my ego and it would be an obvious attempt to please the public - which for those who have followed - was never really my aim - if anything i upset quite a few people - but life isn't interesting if you don't stir the pot - in this case its more the cocktail - but anyways - If you don't get it or get flustered by my style then obviously you are swimming in the shallow end.

As always, I digress...back to the main topic

PINK.

So i came home from the city went straight to bed and caught up on some much needed sleep. Oh I lost my phone by the way. Anyone shocked? Didn't think so. I'm fucking over it. You know how people are "cool" and don't have a facebook? Maybe I'll be "cool" and not just have a phone. Avoid the hassle. Nah i need a phone. Anyways around 8 PM my friend invited me to Pink in Vermont - its a musical festival dedicated to deep house music. Next thing you know I threw a bunch of clothes in my trunk and booked it to Vermont.

I got there around 11 PM and met the rest of my friends and made a bunch of new ones. Everyone was so fucking chill and cool. This place was in the middle of nowhere. There was a huge cabin - cabin isn't even the right word - it was designed as one - but picture a cabin on steroids. It was huge. And beautiful. When you stepped oustide there was this huge open field and you were just surrounded by mountains.

We stayed up the whole night partying and then watched the sun rise. The music started around noon and it was some of the best DJs I have ever heard in my life. Like veterans. And picture yourself in this huge open field with a better sound system then most clubs and people just straight up partying.

It was very intimate. Only about 150 people and it was seriously a life changing experience. I'm so happy I went and got to hear such great music and meet so many cool people. It was like a never ending dream in such a beautiful atmosphere. My caliber of vocabulary does not suffice to describe this festival which is frustrating. I'm gonna be that asshole and say "you had to be there" I would divulge more into the idiosyncrasies of the events that took place but I would rather keep this experience some what intimate between those who attended.

I can't wait for next year. Here are some pictures.

La Zarza

I haven't updated in a hot second but this is noteworthy.

La Zarza last Saturday.

I didn't go out Saturday night till 4 AM. That's just how I do it. I went over to La Zarza for their secret after hours party I got invited to. I showed up and the place looked completely closed. I was really confused, I texted my buddy who was DJing and waited for my friend to show up. All of a sudden the side door opened and a couple of us shuffled in and they locked that shit up.

I go inside and there was about 40 people all of which I knew. It was a very in house vibe, everyone was friends, and knew each other so the vibe already was good. DJ Endo was spinning first - and by the way - he is my new favorite dj - sorry Nadav.

The first hour in was pretty chill but the party got crazy. It was the best after hours party I have ever been to, the music was unreal. Just when you thought it was dying down they brought it back up. I wish they recorded the entire set because it blew my mind. The party went to about 11 AM. It was the coolest party I have ever been to - I kept thinking people were outside walking their dogs and we were underground listening to some of the best deep house music I have ever heard.

The best quote of the night was from my friend Omar "You know what is weird? Everyone here is like ridiculously smart but party like monsters. Everyone i meet is brilliant"

I looked around and nodded my head, strange crowd, but he was dead on.

When Provoc opens back up they need to book DJ Endo!!!

By far best party i  went to this summer or ever actually.

Ken and Crack

So i haven't had any real nightlife dirt in awhile. Instead I have had to rely on my personal antidotes to keep this blog somewhat entertaining..to whom - beats me

Well well well

A reliable source who works for the new restaurant that took over the failed Travertine - Ken and Cook - says that management are complete CRACK HEADS.

Like cocaine cowboy status to the point that people are about to jump ship because its so annoying working for them. They are telling me management is always coked out or on something that they want to quit.

From what I heard the staff is making decent money too, its still in that "scene stage" where people go just because its somewhat popular from word of mouth but as time goes on we all realize..this fish tastes sort of...fishy..and why is everyone wearing denim shirts? If cash flow is solid  it must be pretty bad  because i know some functional coke heads and never heard of people quitting on them, so these guys must be a mess!

Hey and like I've always said any place that follows a previous space is always lackluster, cursed,  and missing that edge. Its like a sequel to a movie. Its never as good as the original. It might not particularly pertain to this..I'm going on a tangent..but Pink Elephant for example. Why? Like honestly i don't get it. Why revive a club that sunk only 2 years ago. Just leave it alone. Or Bungalow 8? Just let it be. Its like reheating food. It never tastes as good.

I don't get it. Why not just have the same people behind Pink Elephant or Bungalow 8 open up a space and just name it something else so it doesn't remind us of past drunken regrets. Let us dazzle on with faded memories at somewhere new.  "oh pink elephant? that place that shut down? its opening again?" it will ALWAYS be known as that. People don't forget! Even us! Who usually forget everything. That shit sticks in your brain.

Sorry got side tracked.

Ken and Cook is run by crack heads. I give it 6 months or less.

some more stuff i did.

Mondazeeeeeeee

I went on a date. I know right? What the hell is going on.

We went to Employees Only and it was fun then Double Seven which sucked as usual and then Avenue which was so much fun!!! Sometimes Avenue is a wild card on a Monday but i was having a blast.. I got really tired though, my body was still recovering from the weekend, it caught up to me again. I hit a wall so I left around 3 AM.

TUESDAY BABY TUESDAY

Doriet and I met up with Deevee and went to the Darby. I literally ran into all my  really good friends, like the actual real ones, they randomly showed up and the night took a turn from predictably a mediocre Tuesday to a memorable one. I can't remember the last time i had a sour night...i've been on a roll lately - no pun intended. There is about four of us who have hung for 3 years and met when we first moved here so we have this bond. I would kill for these guys. We went to 1Oak after where Cassidy performed. I honestly have no idea who that is.

It was fun I stayed pretty late then booked it home because my mom was meeting me the next day.

I will be back Friday, I'm going to a Red Sox game tomorrow with my dad and drinking a beer and eating peanuts its going to be awesome! I missed this OG he taught me everything i know

Going for the Gold

WOW

Thats all i can say about last night. It was one of those where it made me realize why I love going out so much. It was one of the best nights I have had all year.

THURSDAY

I didn't want to go out. I was tired and grumpy, i had to muster every last ounce of energy inside to get in that cab to Provocateur. Earlier that day I smoked weed and walked around Central Park. I skipped class. I reasoned there was nothing that valuable i was going to learn that day, so why waste it inside a stuffy classroom? I watched a baseball game, I rooted for the team with the better looking pitcher. After a couple hours I went to my second class and told him I am doing a speech on anti gun control. He gave me a puzzled look, "Didn't you just tattoo a gun on your neck?" I just gave him a blank stare. That probably confused him even more.

I met up with Julian and Doriet and we drank mimosas on Julians rooftop - we are pretty sure his building is going to collapse. But I thought, might as well drink mimosas on the ride down. We did a small circuit of the happy hour trail, including Kabin. Our first stop was Bantam but we quickly ran out. I don't get what all that hype was about? The design looks like a victorian bathroom and its dark with no music and no people. I walked in and groaned, "No please noooo I don't want to drink in a dark bathroom" My friends were on the same wavelength so we did that awkward pause where we surveyed the room made a glance with the bartender then me doing a "sorry shrug"  I wonder how long they will be open.

I went home after Kabin and took a 4 minute power nap and we headed to Provoc early because it was Julians birthday so we wanted to be in a good atmosphere once the clock struck 12. It was like fate. We ran into my good friend Alexandria, who then introduced us to her friends who were sooooo cool. We all hit it off and we had that same mentality of just having fun and going crazy. Doriet goes "Everyone thinks we are rolling" That's what happens when your the only one having fun. Sorry we don't fit the "lets look miserable and text all our friends about how much fun we are having" mold. I love when I go out with no expectations and the night turns out to be great, those are always the best. Its so refreshing to meet real people as well, especially those who can keep up with us.

The birthday boy with his hos

Thomas Gold was unreal. One of the best djs I have ever heard there. I still can't get over how great it was, I woke up this morning with a pang in my heart wishing i could go back in time and relive that night.  Have you ever had that happen?

The crew last night. Some guy texted our friend saying "Its not working out anymore" So we replied back with this message. I think he is in love with her now.

Happy Birthday Julian! I'm so happy you had a great time last night!!!

Run around sue

What's up

THURSDAY

I came back to the city and ran around for a couple hours then had an interview for a job uptown at 6:30. After my interview I hung out at my friend Elissa's place then went to Provocateur. Nothing really interesting happened...only lesson I learned is to distance yourself from people who say their your "friend" Why do so many people in nightlife have alternative motives? Why can't people just be cool? I'm not a naturally vindictive person so it's annoying that I always have to think like one to protect myself and understand people's actions. I guess it can't always be sunshine and butterflies.

FRIDAY

I went to Elissa's real quick then went for a long walk to Artichoke to get something to eat. It was really nice out, I then went to Meatpack and ate my slice of pizza and listened to Eric Clapton and just people watched. I got up and walked home then got ready because my friend was PICKING ME UP and then we were gonna head to Electric Room. Having a friend pick you up and drive you to a club is better than sex sometimes. It just gave me the motivation to get ready and go out. So my friend came, we drove to Electric Room and blasted music and were able to get a spot right outside Dream. Lucky night. We decided to have a couple drinks at the bar area in the hotel before heading to Electric  Room. Does anyone else think walking down that ramp is difficult? I always feel like I'm going to be "that girl" that trips and plummets to her death. I've gotten lucky so far but I know its going to happen. Electric Room was packed and the music was reaaaally good. We stayed pretty late but my stomach felt weird we left and just kicked it because I wasn't feeling so hot

SATURDAY

Grabbed lunch at this diner then met up with Julian and Doriet in the lower east side. After catching up, me and Doriet decided  to walk all the way home because it was so nice out. We didn't make it a block before we were sitting at a bar having a glass of wine. It was only 4 bucks though..after that we went home and parted ways. I got ready and went to PHD "brunch" - not sure brunch exists at 7 PM but its New York City so anything goes. It was a lot of fun and I ran into a bunch of my friends. For some reason I decided to leave and go alllllllllll the way to 111th street and hang out with my friend Jason. Dumb move..we went to this bar..then Soho Grand..and then the lower east side. It was just a stupid night..just running around and not having that much fun. But that's Saturday for you.

SUNDAY

I went for a really long walk and then went to bed.

Couple days

SUNDAY

We all recovered from New Years. I didn't feel like staying in so I met up with Julian and Keelin in Chinatown and we went by Gold Bar. I never got the memo it was CLOSED!!! I heard people talking about it the night before but I didn't think much of it, I honestly thought I was hearing things (sometimes it happens) But I guess it was true. Lame. I took that as a sign to crawl up into bed, order some food, and watch bad TV. So I went back to Blank and got some much needed rest.

MONDAY

Totally recharged. I helped clean up from the party on NYE at Blank. There was soooo much leftover alcohol not even opened yet. So i grabbed about 7 bottles and headed over to Isabella's place. We started partying at 8 PM and it was once again, so much fun. We got ready for hours and laughed and joked around.

I mean - we can't do this shit forever. At some point we have to grow up but none of us are ready to yet. I don't want to be 27 doing this, so I'd rather take advantage of my youth - some people I know should do the same.

We met up with some friends who live right across the street from Butter. We hung out for an hour then just walked across the street to the club. Surprisingly it was actually a lot of fun probably because we were so out of it. My friends went to PHD but for some reason I stayed - god, sometimes i really get mad at myself. I always feel like I make the wrong decision. It wasn't that bad though, we all met up at Isabella's and stayed up the rest of night.

TUESDAY

Missed my train home. I overslept. I rescheduled it for the next day and hung out with Brandyn. His friend Miguel came over, we smoked, and listened to beats that Miguel made. It was cool..I went to Blank after and got some sleep before my train.

I forgot my wallet when I came to New York and only had 100 bucks so I ran out of money and had to go home. I don't care, I'm ready to chill out for a couple days before I head back for school. I have to go to Ohio though and celebrate my grandparents 50th anniversary. I haven't seen them for 2 years  so I'm really excited. Its going to be so boring though.
